Heresy?

As a DE devotee, it might be regarded as a heresy to return to a cartridge blade. I decided today in another rush, to grab a Wilkinson Hydro 5 razor. Learning from previous experience I painted on a thin layer of Mr Taylor cream lather and very lightly ran the blade over my face for a very quick three pass shave. I really didn't feel I was taking anything off. But after applying my balm I discovered I had given myself a very close comfortable shave. I'm not returning to cartridge razors any time soon, but it's not difficult to understand their continuing popularity among general shavers.

It made a change.

  1. My impressions are very simmilar. A very comfortable shave. but the price of the cartridges are so high and the "feeling" is so humble. I prefer my straights and DEs even knowing that the shave may be not as easy as the shave with the hydro

  3. Maybe heresy, but The cartridges have their uses. I find them better for polishing, for example. I fear the Sensor apocalypse coming as it's my face for working the edges of my beard.

  4. This is a highly specialised and interesting blog. It seems such long time ago that I imitated my father by using a badger hair brush. These days I settle for the standard cartridge blades and shaving gel. I will need to have a much closer look for a closer shave. Will it really make a difference? Perhaps you can give me advice. I am sure the readers of the web site www.silverlinksnetwork.com would also be most interested, as indeed would be their wives.

  5. Thousands of shavers around the world are discovering the delights of yesteryear. They are saving on the cost of cartridges and spending it several times over on collections of razors, creams, soaps and brushes. And what fun they are having. Shaving has become a pleasure instead of a chore! I'll be off to silverlinksnetwork.com just as soon as I can to spread the word.
