This is the tale of one enthusiasts journey back to the world of traditional wet shaving. It's not intended to instruct - you probably know more than I do about many of the products or issues I describe. My blogs are really a series of personal diaries about my retirement hobbies that I'm happy to share with anyone whose interested. Welcome - and thanks for looking in.
Can I ask why you used a multi bade razor, even a single pass with a DE should have given you a shave just as good if not better?
ReplyDeleteBecause I used just a small amount of Hydro gel - all that's needed. So I was effectively lathered up in a few seconds. I know I could have face lathered with a brush but it would have involved more time and effort. The speed and simplicity of cartridges and canned gel/foam is why they are so popular with the vast majority of shavers.
ReplyDeleteJust curious, what brush would you use for that super luxurious sunday morning shave with your top quality cream and when time is not an issue?
ReplyDeleteAmong my New Forest brushes, I'd use a Tubby 1 Finest Silvertip with a 50mm loft and gently paint on the lather with long sweeping strokes from side to centre of my face. Among other brands, a Kent BK8 at around £80 offers fair value at the price point for a large high end silvertip used the same way. Like I did this morning!
ReplyDeleteThe New Forest High Mountain brush is very luxurious too, but it's out of stock right now.
ReplyDeleteThanks, What about a simpson chubby 2. Seems to be a lot of peoples favourite.
ReplyDeleteI have a Simpsons Chubby 2 Best Badger. It's a large dense brush but lacks the softness that can give a luxurious feel. It's a fine brush though but even the Best Badger version is over £100. Mine doesn't get used very often. But I'm reluctant to part with it. Looks good on the shelf!
